The Little Match Girl

Posted by Behrooz Sangani (Tehran, Iran) on 27 February 2007 in People & Portrait and Portfolio.

Last night on my way home, I saw this little girl selling matches in front of a gift shop. I decided to shoot her, though I knew that my mobile camera was not very friendly in high ISO environments. I got off the bus and walked for a couple of minutes to get back to her. I asked her and she decided to say yes after a few questions, so I told her to continue doing her homework and this is the result.
I may also mention that I decided to pay for this picture.

Location: Baharestan Sq. Tehran

A note afterwards:
Two guys have contacted me to send money for the girl. As the new Persian year is getting near, I have a warm feeling in my heart that there are still people who care. I just wanted to say that I salute you guys. I really do. You and more than a thousand visitors in a day means a lot to me and I'm glad that I could do something with a little photo.
