This little something has been photographed after a lot of negotiation with the guards in Narenjestan House museum, Shiraz. There was a lot of amazing stuff there, but I was allowed to capture only one object, and this is it. I decided not to remove the reflection of the glass, as this one's sort of a documentary shot. And here is why I wanted this: This jar is about 5 thousand years old. It belongs to the 3th millenium B.C

They must be very, very valuable from the 3rd millenium BC. Why wouldn't they let you photograph them? I could understand it if people were constantly firing flashguns at the treasures, they would probably fade just like valuable paintings. Hmm! 1/60th of a second - I guess you could have been using flash but it isn't all that obvious! That light reflection isn't the burst of a flashgun? Either way it is a wonderful photograph to have and to treasure!

@Anne: Thanks Anne. No flashguns, I never use them in places like that. They are very dangerous for old stuff like that. Lucky me, the room was well lit and there's a small bit of exposure layer in photoshop to brighten the image. One main reason for not letting people photograph in musuems is the security. The room is full of cameras and alarms and it's a security issue to photograph them.
Thank you it will help me during my next summer holidays in Iran!
wow ! I'm not gonna believe this. 5000 years old ? anyway, it's a great shot. I like the harmony...

First of all I thank you the successful negotiations with the guards. Otherwise we wouldn't see that treasure. It's very well photographed. Not easy, with artificial light and protective glass.

Fantastic that so long ago people made utensils we still use in their same shape, made in essentially the same way. Nothing above nature.
